Created by impeding the natural fermentation and oxidation process after the leaves and stems are cut, they are withered and immediately steamed or heated to stop oxidation.  It is then rolled and dried, resulting in a delicate, aromatic herbal tisane.  Rooibos or african red bush, is an herbal tisane that is caffeine free, low in tannins, and rich in antioxidants.  The sweet flavor and medicinal properties have been enjoyed in south africa since the early 1900’s.  Rooibos is believed to relieve headaches and reduce allergic reactions.
